At the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and Pauline Fathers Monastery, Skałka, the legend goes that Bishop Stanisław criticized King Bolesław in the year 1079, so the king had his guards tear the bishop limb from limb and throw his body parts thrown in the pool beyond this gate. But four eagles watched over the body, and the limbs miraculously reattached themselves to the body. Whatever the story, the gate’s really pretty.
