I grew up in a tiny town where the houses are miles apart and yet everyone knows all of their neighbors. Erin’s family lived a few roads away from us, and her mom taught the Bible study I used to go to as a kid. Once a week, the bus would stop in front of her family’s farm after school, and a whole troop of us would traipse up the long drive to their old brick house. Erin later married Kyle, who went to my church growing up, and she become close friends with my cousin who was born less than an hour apart from me on the same day in the same year. Small world!
I really miss that about the country, but I love that when Erin needed some pictures of her wildly adorable family, she thought of me from three states away. The shoot was at her parents’ farm, and it was so cool to see that room where we used to have Bible study all of these years later, and of course her mom had newborn kittens in the house and her dad was pressing fresh apple cider in the backyard that day, because nothing could be more perfectly Midwestern.
