My boyfriend (now fiancé) and I went to the Dominican Republic from December 26th of last year to January 1st of this year to escape the NYC winter and try out our first all-inclusive resort! We chose the La Romana area of the island because I read that the water’s calmer and therefore clearer on the Caribbean vs. the Atlantic side, and the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus was the highest-rated resort on TripAdvisor there, so we figured, might as well go hard. It was about four times more expensive that time of year, so I definitely don’t recommend that week if you can avoid it, but the resort itself was wonderful. We didn’t leave the grounds the entire time we were there, so please enjoy my many upcoming photos of the pool.
