The resort where we stayed in the Dominican Republic is known for this lighthouse at the end of its beach, where you can grab a quick Coco Loco from the bartender and then go pee in the ocean. (Or the very nearby and very nice resort restrooms, which is what we used, OF COURSE.)

Next: The Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus resort was decorated for the holidays, which made it such a pretty backdrop for pictures. I basically can’t imagine going back at a non-Christmas time. This was on our way to the buffet one night, which was usually had a nightly theme of things like sushi or Italian food or a sea meat feast. We were allowed to make three a la carte restaurant reservations during our week-long stay, so we chose the Japanese, the Mexican, and the French restaurants. The Japanese included a hibachi entree made Benihana-style in front of you with a sushi starter. The Mexican restaurant had an appetizer buffet (dreamy!) and then a plated entree ordered from a menu. The French place was supposed to be the classy one, but our food was kind of bland, and the atmosphere was sort of stuffy, so we recommend the other two.
