I love living in NYC, I really do, but sometimes the crowds can be overwhelming to this Ohio girl who likes to take it easy and live stress-free. So instead of braving the Brooklyn Bridge Park chaos right outside of our apartment last night, my husband and I took a looooooong walk down to the Red Hook pier to see the fireworks. There were just a couple hundred people there, casually hanging out and being nice to each other in a way that felt so small-town and neighborhoody to me. We couldn’t see most of the actual NYC fireworks because of buildings in the way, but we had a perfect view of the Jersey City display across the river and a much, much more relaxing experience!
