The Mermaid of Warsaw (Syrenka Warszawska) isn’t actually a mermaid but a fresh-water melusina (of COURSE we knew that already). She’s been a Warsaw icon and a presence on the city’s coat of arms since before the 1400s, and here she is on the Wisła river getting ready to woo some sailors with her singing.
