Our first night in Krakow, we walked a few blocks from our Airbnb to Plac Nowy (New Square), the WWII-era Jewish marketplace that has become the center of the Kazimierz neighborhood’s nightlife in recent years. Restaurants line the square with outdoor seating that spills onto the streets, but we were there for what the area is most famous for: the zapiekanka. It’s like a French bread pizza, except instead of marinara sauce, they use ketchup! The stall we went to, Zapiekanki Królewskie, had at least 20 kinds to choose from and the longest line, so we assumed it must be the best. We were not let down.
