El Campo de Cebada in the La Latina neighborhood of Madrid was the most Brooklyn thing we saw in Spain. Apparently the city was building a swimming pool for the ‘hood but then ran out of money and abandoned the project. So the neighbors took it upon themselves to build an awesome community space that was thriving the day we visited, with picnickers and readers and entertainers.
